About the Yelling Tree Press designs & artwork
Yelling Tree Press artwork embroidery kits are designed by artist James Tovey.
The motifs are based on his art work – which includes woodwork sculptures, some of which he has made with children, for instance – and subsequently developed and turned into drawings, tablet drawings, acrylic and oil paintings… At other times, the works begin as drawings or paintings and end as sculptures or installations… Steps in a cycle of creativity.
Now, with a Yelling Tree Press artwork embroidery kit, the designs can be reworked and reimagined – by you, in thread.
About Yelling Tree Press embroidery kits
The Threads – Each embroidery kit comes with a harmonious palette of threads, embroidery and tapestry needles.
The Fabric – The fabric is a cotton/linen natural materials blend, printed in the UK.
The Stitches – Each kit also includes a printed guide with illustrated instructions for a useful and interesting selection of embroidery stitches (so you can give yourself some screen-free time if you like, though we are growing a collection of how-to stitch guides on the Yelling Tree Press website too).
The Kit Box – The kit is supplied in an elegant durable project box to store your kit in as you work on it. The Mini kits come in an eco cello wrap.
Your Own Work – Within the selected palette and stitches there is much scope for individuality. The kits are here to guide and inspire you. Enjoy being creative while also mastering the craft of embroidery.
Embroidery kits for beginners & keen stitchers – for all levels of embroiderer
Newbies to needlework wizards – Being guided-creativity kits, Yelling Tree Press kits are suitable for many levels of embroidery enthusiast.
Genuinely easy to get started – for instance the picture just above is stitched just with running stitches. First the purple outline was stitched in running stitch, then the spaces filled in with more running stitches. Next the pale pink was sewn – it’s just lots of rows of running stitches. See how pretty it looks? Next the embroiderer is filling in the space in a row of purple running stitches with blue running stitch.
The picture at the very top of this page is also stitched in running and straight stitches (ie just up and down) and with dark purple stem stitch around the edge.
Inspiration to sew – We also give suggestions as to which stitches you may like to use in the printed guides that come with each kit. We’ve done this to inspire anyone, embroidery novice or needle-work wizard, to enjoy the kit.
Explore and experiment – Some of the stitches are suitable for complete beginners; all of the stitches will become more beautiful with practice, and more interesting as you explore and experiment with them.
